Vision Expo West will bring together eye care professionals from all over the world to Las Vegas. They will not only be educated but have the experience of being able to shop more than 4,000 fashion brands, be exposed to the latest industry advances and engage in networking.

It’s the vision eye wear and eye care event of the year, and it will take place in Las Vegas from 27-29 September. The Vision Expo West 2018 events include an opening night party at one of the well-known spots in Las Vegas, the Brooklyn Bowl.

While you’ll be learning a lot about the latest and greatest advances in eye care (including the Optical Content Library at our booth, #MS13049), make sure not to miss out on experiencing some of what Las Vegas has to offer. It is famous for its vibrant nightlife, casinos and other entertainment options. The Strip, its focal point, is about four miles long and here are some of the things you can experience on The Strip and further afield.

On The Strip Attractions

The famous Las Vegas Strip is the central artery of Las Vegas and the place from which you have access to many of the city’s best attractions. The shopping, nightclubs, shows, restaurants, and museums are within an easy walk of each other.

Bellagio Fountains, the 200-foot-tall fountains that span the lake in front of the Bellagio Hotel, have become one of the iconic sights in Vegas. The fountains shoot spray more than 450 feet into the air in a dramatic choreographed show with lights and music.

A daily show takes place every 30 minutes on weekdays from 3pm to 8pm and every 15 minutes from 8pm to 12pm.

While in Las Vegas, take in a Cirque Du Soleil Show. The KÀ at MGM Grand Hotel and Casino is a unique theatrical event that lasts 90 minutes. There is a moving stage and the show uses multimedia, martial arts, aerial acrobatics, and puppetry to create an unforgettable experience.

It tells the story of twins who are on a hazardous journey towards fulfilling their destiny. Many people say this is their favorite Cirque du Soleil show with mesmerizing performances and an easy to follow the storyline.

Shopping at the 2-million square foot Fashion Show Mall is quite an experience. It’s like fashion runway platforms all grouped together. The Great Hall is an event area with an 80-foot retractable runway, and on some weekends you can catch models on the runway wearing clothes you can buy. Check out the many boutiques and chain stores and make your shopping something to remember, even if you’re on a budget.

Culinary attractions

While you’re at the Fashion Show Mall, you should try out Luke’s Lobster for some inexpensive seafood. The restaurant works directly with fishermen to hand-pick the best seafood, such as shrimp, crab, and lobster for you to enjoy. The seafood is paired with bisques and chowders, Maine-style sides and local desserts.

Yardbird Southern Table and Bar serves inventive takes on the classic Southern fare. Enjoy farm-fresh classic southern fried chicken and local produce for lunch, supper and weekend brunch.

No Vegas trip is complete without a visit to the Wicked Spoon Buffet at The Cosmopolitan. This is a high-end buffet where you will find standard favorites and some more refined fare. Like most other buffets, it is divided into separate sections, starting with a salad area which features good cheeses, pita slices, hummus, etc.

The seafood station serves a variety of shellfish, grilled salmon and mini fish and chip baskets. A traditional carving station serves all the traditional pork, prime rib, etc. but you’ll also find unusual items like roasted bone marrow. There is also an Italian and an Asian food station. A molten chocolate lava cake is the perfect way to end your meal.

Off The Strip Attractions

The remarkable Red Rock Canyon is about 9 miles west of Las Vegas, and visitors can see colorful rock formations as they go on hiking trails or take a 13-mile drive. The formations were created when the sea evaporated and rain and wind-sculpted the land. This is a fantastic get-away from the Strip for a couple of hours and is only 20 minutes away. The drive is easy, and there are plenty of photo opportunities.

If you’re in Las Vegas, you shouldn’t miss out on a visit to Freemont Street, a five-block pedestrian mall. It will give you a taste of the true Las Vegas and the old ‘downtown.’ This covered mall has many kiosks and carts, and there is a nightly light-and-sound show.

If you’re interested in history, you should visit the Hoover Dam in the Black Canyon which is just minutes outside of Las Vegas. The concrete colossus continues to draw crowds and has been named as one of the top construction achievements of the 20th century. The walkway on the bridge is about 900 feet above the Colorado River, providing incredible views.

Conclusion

Las Vegas offers many attractions that are well worth seeing, and if you’re wondering what to do at Vision Expo West 2018, you should consider taking in some of the sights. There is something to appeal to everyone, and whether you enjoy eating out, theatre, nightlife, gambling, history or culture, Las Vegas has it all.
